Unanswered letter. Yordan Valchev against a political agenda in science

Summary/Abstract: The focus of this article is a letter from the Bulgarian writer, publicist and researcher Yordan Valchev, addressed to two high-ranking Russian scientists. It was written in reply to their article in the newspaper „Literaturnaya Gazeta“, written for the day of Slavic writing and culture. Valchev shows in an unequivocal way how ideology and politics should not interfere in the research field of critical thinking. His letter is interesting and valuable in that the erudite, informed researcher highlights the gaps in the material of Russian authorities and thus becomes a useful text. The article also touches on the themes of patriotism and nationalism and to what extent they should influence science.
