Summary/Abstract: In the second half of the twentieth century the use of indigenous raw materials for the making of new drugs was a priority in the pharmaceutical research of Romania. This paper aims to highlight the contribution of the Romanian researchers to obtain pharmaceutical substances used in the making of Romanian drugs. Among the approached topics, in this paper, we describe the researches on the chemical composition and the therapeu tic action of some substances isolated from various indigenous medicinal plants (Scoparia lurida, Datura stramonium, Datura innoxia etc.), to obtain scopolamine. Scopolamine, the active principle obtained from Datura innoxia Mill, converted to hydro bromide, then N-butyl-scopolamine bromide. The obtained substance was conditioned in different pharmaceutical forms (tablets, ampoules, suppositories) as Scobutil, in the drugs fac tory from Bucharest Biofarm. The results of these researches are recognized by certificates of invention that we present you in this paper.
