Summary/Abstract: Within the huge corpus of works dealing with the life of Miklós Horthy, the number of those devoted to his career in the navy is fairly limited, and the majority of this small number makes no use of archival sources at all. The present paper is aimed to partly fill that gap, by reconstructing Miklós Horthy’s journey around the world between 1892 and 1894, a journey that played a key role in the socialization of Horthy and in the shaping of his view of the world.
