Summary/Abstract: The term ‘idealization’ has two meanings. Applied most commonly in reflection on art, it means making an object resemble the assumed model of beauty, just contrariwise to caricature. Idealization in science philosophy consists in taking into account merely one key aspect of the investigated object. The paper deals with the consequences of assuming idealization to be an essential feature of caricature, comparable to idealization in science.
