Summary/Abstract: The aim of our investigation tries to underline the most important aspects of tourism economy and to illustrate the instruments used by Romanian propaganda to foreigner tourists. We also describe the ascension of cultural and local Romanian potential in the seventies, and the governametal efforts to improve the tourist’s offert. There is another important fact underlined by the research: the communist regime was determined to get over the ideological issues or practices and follow the economic challenge regarding the improvement of tourist logistics and cultural offer. Also the tourism had to develop itself, taking account of external parameters. Propaganda had an important role in this economic and cultural effort. The Romanian cultural personalities were implicated to support and to amplify the external image of Socialist Romania, as an assurance of the successfully strategy.
