Summary/Abstract: The book of Gleb Drăgan, member of the Romanian Academy, presents his dramatic family history, family that, after the occupation of the Bessarabia by the Soviet troops, had to endure the torment of deportation. The sober style, the short, rhythmical phrase, the approach almost scenario-like of each episode as well as the lesson of dignity and verticality facing the hardships of history that the author provides in a natural, non ostentatious way, all make this book a metaphor of pain and also of hope.
