Summary/Abstract: The book of Professor Dr. Eng. Ștefan Iancu, suggestively intitled „An incursion in the history of science and technology of information”, represents, without any doubt, one of the most admirable synthesis of history and technology that the academic world and not only, was expecting for a long time. Th rough this exceptional work, organized in six chapters (I. „The place and the role of the Romanian scientific and technological culture in Europe and in the world”; II. „The development of science and technology in the fields of electricity, electrotechnics, electronics, automatisation and telecommunications”; III. „Artificial intelligence”; IV. „The development of informational and communication science and technology across the Globe”; V. „The development of informational and communication science and technology in Romania”; VI. „Social implications of using informational and communication science and technology”), the author makes his voice heard, with meekness yet with an intense scientific scrupulousness, on some modern day aspects and also on the future of the field of new technologies of information and communications, bringing an encomium to the domain’s engineering, discipline he had served for more than 40 years and, by doing so, praising the great Romanian personalities having contributed to the development of the universal scientific and technical culture.
