Summary/Abstract: The accession to the European Union on January 1st, 2007 forced Bulgarian nonprofit organizations to look for new financial sources. Knowing the pros and cons of different funding sources is a matter of great importance. It can help Bulgarian associations and foundations in achieving balance between the short-term benefits of gaining funding and the long-term sustainable development of nonprofit organizations in conformity with their mission.
