The theological aspects of the polemic between the synagogue and the church in the Gospel of John

Summary/Abstract: The Gospel of John is a reflection of the situation of the nascent Church, which shape its identity in confrontation with rabbinic Judaism. The reason for this polemic was a different understanding of the most important theological truths such as Christology, Pneumatology and Ecclesiology. At the center of the dispute was the person of Jesus and those who believed in him as the announced Messiah, were excluded from the Synagogue. The Holy Spirit, as understood by Christians is a Person and as a gift from the Father, was sent to the whole community of the Church. He strengthened the community of believers who gave the testimony of Jesus with great courage.
