Using the database Bibliografia Regionalna Biblioteki Śląskiej (Regional Bibliography of the Silesian Library) – its content and functionalities

Summary/Abstract: The theme of the article is the usage of the Regional Bibliography database of the Silesian Library, its content and functionality. The scheme of operations and search possibilities offered by the Database are presented. Available search options as well as storage and processing of gained information are discussed, as well as the possibilities of creating bibliographical lists. The Base was placed as one of the elements of the bibliographic system created in the Silesian Library. It also includes the bibliography of Silesia, developed in 1936 in Katowice, which are traditional and modern electronic sources of information about the region. The paper discusses historical and contemporary solutions used in the field of creating the bibliography of Silesia. Possibilities offered by the base put into the hands of users in 2017 – creating network connections between bibliographic records and full texts placed in digital libraries and linking with other passwords in independent regional information systems are presented. The possibilities of combining a bibliographic database and a library catalog of simultaneous search for an interesting topic are presented.
