Summary/Abstract: In this study I tried to emphasize the central role that Constantine the Great had inthe dogmatic disputes of the fourth century, referring in particular to the council ofNicaea in 325. The stately and providential fi gure Emperor Constantine for the affi rmation of Christian faith in the context of the pagan world was put in relationship tothe defi nition of the dogma of Nicaea and emperor’s desire to combine politics witha religious vision: one religion, one God, one emperor. Here I revealed some aspectsof theology that the dogma from council of Nicene involved, being delimited from theheresies of that times and the polytheism of ancient religions and philosophies. TheEmperor Constantine played a decisive role not only in disputes between Christiansand pagans, but also in disputes between Christians and Christians, giving force andrights to the Christian Church.
