Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was an analysis of subdialectal features and elements of folkculture in the socioideonyms referring to the group of people connected by a common idea. The author sought an answer to the question whether the names of folk ensembles areonly an artificial reflection of language and folk culture or whether they also preserve theauthentic subdialect and traditions, and to what extent they do so. Linguistic analysisindicated that the subdialectal elements present in the names are often artificial,“hypercorrect”, they do not always correspond to the living language of inhabitants of theregion. In the names there are many references not only to the language but also to otherelements of folk and national culture. It seems, however, that there is more folklorism(folk stylisation, theatricalisation) than real folklore involved.
