Summary/Abstract: The article contains a linguistic and cultural analysis of the names of folk dance and vocal ensembles. The contemporary names from the Podkarpacki Province desig¬nating the youth and senior, amateur and semi-professional ensembles functioning at universities, workplaces and cultural centres have been taken into consideration. The purpose of the study was to present the names, secondly, to analyse their structure (including the genre characteristics of names as minimal texts), and thirdly, to analyse the semantic bases, which has allowed to demonstrate the relations among the no¬menclature and history, tradition, and culture of the region. The analysis has shown that the names of folk ensembles are innovative neither in the sphere of structure nor in the semantic and motivational sphere. They have a bipartite structure: a multi-word descriptive part with a fixed order of elements and most often, a one-word company name functioning as a brand name. In terms of motivation, they most often refer to the geographical names and the collective names of the inhabitants of the region, as well as to folk and national symbols.
