The author analyzes all relevant facts related to this topic: the emergance of pan-islamic movement in the Muslim world; the first mention of that term in European languages; researches whether the ideology of pan-islamism has had an impact on Bosniaks; indicates the difference between political and religious pan-islamism; analyzes academic discussions from the first half of 20th centuries about pan-islamism and caliphate; analyzes meaning of pan-islamism in the Islamska deklaracija of Alija Izetbegović.
