Summary/Abstract: Contemporary independent film consists of a wide range of movie types, which are results of different motifs and bearing a specific creative background. Generally, making an artwork is a product of various influences. Of course, artistic priorities underlie them first and foremost. On the other hand, film industry has a very strong economic and market component. This makes the spectatorial and commercial success of certain narratives and genres an important factor in the appropriation of already existing models. This paper will try to reveal some of the mechanisms in the creative process of certain typologically different Bulgar-ian independent films and to outline their conscious and unconscious influences, coming from national and international film models.
