Theological Grounds Regarding the Communion as the Purpose of the Liturgy in the Vision of Theologian Alexandre Schmemann

Summary/Abstract: This study refers to the theological groundwork regarding the Communion as a goalof the Divine Liturgy as they appear in the vision of theologian Alexandre Schmemann. Thus, in the introduction, I referred to the view of the early Church regardingthe reception of Holy Communion, the sole purpose of celebrating the Saint Liturgyand to the historical context of its obliteration. Next I presented a theological evaluation of losing the understanding the ultimate goal of Liturgy in the act of Communion, as it analyzed in the work of Rev. Prof. Alexandre Schmemann. At the end of thestudy I presented some practical conclusions that can be drawn from the content ofmy material.
