Summary/Abstract: The cultural landscape of a locality is one of its essential values, which can be considered the inhabitants’ „dowry”. While in cities the protection of the patrimony is a common preoccupation of specialists in the field and public administration, unfortunately in the rural areas the cultural landscape does not present interest neither for the inhabitants nor for the administration. For this reason, many times the cultural landscape of many rural areas has been altered and lost its identity, its particularity. The most commonly used tool for protecting cultural landscape is the Local Urban Planning Regulation subordinated to General Urban Plans. The groundwork for the rules of building in this urban planning regulation is achieved through a General Historical Study. Although there is a framework for making this study, the particularity of each locality entails a specific approach and an elaboration of different aspects dependent on each case. Therefore, the professionals team’s approach in development of historical studies, in a comparative state of the methodology adopted, can considerably contribute to improving the quality of these studies and can also lead to an integrated protection of the cultural landscape.
