Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the documentation and basic classification of the folk sculpture in Orava in the form of columns with religious figural compositions. It maps their occurrence in the region, style and stylish expression, iconography, meaning and symbolism of their placement in the landscape or urbanization of the village. The columns or crosses by the roads were not directly linked to architecture, they were placed in a public space with close links to its topography and context.
