Summary/Abstract: The author evokes the personality of Metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania, from her perspective as a writer. His memoirs are analyzed. Valeriu Anania was the most solemn author she ever met. He was a born memorialist, no matter what was his psychic motivation to write. In his memories about writers he uses a Romanian language of rare richness and nobility and a sense of soul nuance that made him a gentle and precise portraitist. As a portraitist, the writer was careful to recompose the good figure of the great writers he frequented. In the lavish prose of literary memoirs, the author, devoid of egotism or narcissism, keeps his own biography in the shadows. In general, the author does not spare, but says everything, including unpleasant or even infamous events. Valeriu Anania’s memoirs are also an important source of information.
