Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the procedure for recognition and enforcement of the arbitral awards rendered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), based in Lausanne. The text explains the circumstances in which CAS has jurisdiction to settle sports-related legal disputes. The applicable law for these cases can either be chosen by the parties or determined by CAS according to the provisions of the Code of Sports-related Arbitration if there is no agreement. The text gives a summary of the legal grounds for judicial review of CAS awards by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland. Furthermore, the article presents the provisions of the New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. These rules can be applied to CAS awards as well as other arbitral decisions. Along with the International legislation regarding the recognition and enforcement of CAS awards, the text provides a review about Bulgaria’s private international law regarding this type of foreign arbitral decisions and the conditions in which they can be recognized and enforced in Republic of Bulgaria.
