The Word-Formational Category Nomina deminutiva et meliorativa in Bulgarian Manuscripts of the 14th Century

Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this work is to present the formation of diminutive names, combined with the names of small creatures, from eight Middle Bulgarian monuments of the 14th century. The material is presented in word formation types. Methodologically the analysis is based on the theoretical postulates of the Czech linguist M. Dokulil (Dokulil 1962) for the analysis of word formation, introduced for the first time in Bulgaria by Iv. Kochev. The formations are analyzed and classified according to suffixes in order to show the richness formants in the Middle Bulgarian period of the development of the Bulgarian language.
