Summary/Abstract: In the Romanian Orthodox Church, the issue of the link between confession andcommunion was and is very often called into question, creating controversy betweentheologians and spiritual fathers when it comes to practical solutions. In the morerecent times the continuous communion practice is increasingly frequent. The issueof confession frequency before Communion should also be evaluated in this context. This study evaluates the relationship between the Sacrament of Confession andCommunion from a biblical, patristic and liturgical – pastoral perspective. It pointsout that as spiritual fathers, we must overcome the mentality that confession priorCommunion justifies the believer as being worthy to partake, regardless of the intensity or lack of repentance and that we must begin to bring forth spiritual children.Only to this extent we will succeed to find an answer to the question of confessionfrequency before receiving Holy Communion.
