Summary/Abstract: The second part of the article follows how the relationship of Miron Constantinescu and Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej evolved during 1954-1956, including the growing tension between the two RWP leaders. The personal frustrations of Miron Constantinescu explains the attempt to overthrow Dej, using the context of Khruschev’s destalinisation. The author of the study analyses Constantinescu’s failed coup in spring 1956 and the end of his five finest years. Although he was rehabilitated by Nicolae Ceauşescu and brought back in the RCP leadership in 1969, Miron Constantinescu never again enjoyed the power he had during 1952-1956.
