Summary/Abstract: Social media and social networks acquire a whole new meaning, serving as a guide, as a starting point for new forms of social interaction, while creating new rights and models of participation such as global citizenship in the digital age. The role of citizens' information literacy is crucial, so that they have the ability to navigate effectively in the face of increasing information flows. The subject of the paper is based on the Paris Declaration on Media and Information Literacy. The goal of this report is to make a comparison between information literacy and social networks, emphasizing the need for this type of literacy for the normal and smooth functioning of social networks among students studying in the field of 3.5 Social Communications and Information Sciences.
