Summary/Abstract: Considering that communication science students will be creators of media content in the professional future, it is of the utmost importance that they build quality media habits during their studies. Media habits include ways of using media and evaluation of media content. The aim of this research was to determine the media habits of students of the Department of Communication Studies at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo, and how students evaluate their own knowledge and skills in the field of media and information literacy. The aim of the paper was also to point out the importance and necessity of media and information literacy as a meta-competence for all citizens in the digital age, with special emphasis on the responsible role played by professional communicators (communication scientists, journalists, PR professionals) or those who are studying to become that. The results of the research showed that almost all students of communication science consider themselves media and information literate, but that their media habits do not equally confirm this.
