Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to analyze the application of information and communication technologies by students in the second stage of basic education. The survey was conducted in the period 2018-2019 through a questionnaire survey with 629 students from 36 schools in the Northeastern region of Bulgaria. The methods for school self-assessment in the process of planning and introduction of innovations for application of ICT are discussed. Conclusions are formulated related to: goals and measures for the use of ICT in schools; the quality of teaching and learning; development of school culture and environment. The problem aspects and needs for implementation of modern ICT in school have been identified.
