Summary/Abstract: The results of the research show that the application of the research method in teaching in the older grades of primary school, in addition to a positive impact on the quality of knowledge, has a positive impact on the prosocial behavior of students. The aim of the research was to examine whether the application of the research method in teaching in the fourth grade of primary school affects the development of moral reasoning, empathy and propensity to resolve conflicts. The sample consisted of 89 students (36 female students) divided into an experimental (46) and a control group (43). After equalizing the groups, the students self- assessed their morality, empathy and conflict resolution style through a questionnaire. One class of My environment was thaught through a research method and in the control group, through traditional teaching methods.After three months, students were re-tested with the same questionnaire.In the data analysis, a t-test for independent and dependent samples was applied. The research findings, in no case showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The obtained results suggest that the application of the research method in the fourth grade of primary school does not lead to the improvement of student conflict resolution styles, morality and empathy. Based on the overall findings, we can conclude that at the age of fourth grade students, the research method should not be expected to have a positive effect on prosocial reasoning and behavior.
