Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to interpret Jacek Dehnel’s book But Together With Our Dead, which invokes the spiritual ideas of the Polish Romanticism. It is based on the figure of the zombie – the living dead, the revenant who is the carrier of various references and contexts. The figure also allows us to read Dehnel’s novel not only in the context of a grotesque aimed at Romanticism, but also in the context of the current socio-political situation, immutably founded on the spirit of national megalomania, rising from crypts and burial mounds.
