Summary/Abstract: Men’s magazines by texts, photographs and advertisements create an image of gender – who man is or what he should be. This recipient’s image is created by evaluation. Through the magazines we learn how men should behave, what to be interested in, how to dress or what to value in life. The article attempts to determine the values promoted in Russian language magazines for men and to sketch the image of a man thus created. The Russian language editions of men’s such as “Maxim”, “Playboy” and “GQ” were analyzed and the starting point was the value classification proposed by Jadwiga Puzynina.
