Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to show positive and negative characteristics perceived in themselves by representatives of Polish and Spanish cultures. It focuses on self-stereotypes, which often coincide with the perception of one nationality by another. The article describes the representatives of individual and very patriotic cultures which at the same time have a different approach to the surrounding environment. The research method adopted was the analysis of available literature, observations of the author and of various other researchers. The article is based on Polish and foreign literature and publications. It presents and supports many examples of the behaviour of Poles and Spaniards from the perspective of their countrymen. Poles and Spaniards differ in many ways, but it should be mentioned that there are some similarities between them. They greatly value traditions, appreciate family ties, and respect older people. Despite their European origin, both cultures differ in their approach to life. This article, which characterises Poles and Spaniards, can also serve as a study explaining their behaviours that can be interpreted differently by other cultures.
