Summary/Abstract: Social inclusion, as a support for social policies, is both a deliberate process of integrating and welcoming all people into a society based on equal opportunities and greater tolerance, and an objective aimed at combating social exclusion by removing barriers to people's participation in society. In the foundation of social policies are used social indicators that allow the description in statistical terms of the level of social development achieved in society, but also of the current existing problems. They provide confidence in social policy actions and make it possible to monitor progress in solving problems of general interest. This paper highlights the conceptual presentation of the term of social inclusion, both in general and from the perspective of the European Union, the system of indicators used in measuring social inclusion, social trends regarding the evolution of social inclusion indicators at EU and Romanian level.
