Summary/Abstract: One of the initiatives, which were accompanied to the World Youth Dayin Madrid in 2011, was the publication of compendium entitled Polish Youcat.Catechism of the Catholic church for young. The German edition was a modelfor translation for 7 languages (including Polish). The aim of the Youcat is anattempt to translate the Catechism of the Catholic Church on young peoplelanguage. All language editions retain the same text structure. The aim of thearticle is to analyze the collection of definition of the margins.The author takes into consideration two aspects:1) Which words and multiword lexical units were found to be needed to explain?2) How are designed the explanations, known as the definitions?Research shows the lack of principle in the selection of passwords, showsexplanatory models (referring to the lexicographical methodology), among whichdominates the real semantic definition, tilt up to encyclopedism.
