Summary/Abstract: Polish religious experts, sociologists and journalists increasingly often use the phrase churching, which means visiting different churches in search of one that would meet the individual needs of a given person (with regards to the homily, music, architecture, priests’ behavior, etc.). The goal of the article is to present the basic linguistic findings regarding the word churching. Study materials were collected in the course of an online research, covering press materials as well as publications of secular and religious websites. Due to the lack of an English equivalent the author advocates the creation of a specifically Polish word. The article also describes attempts of adapting the word to the Polish language system (phonetics, word formation, orthography). A separate fragment deals with the linguistic awareness of Poles: opinions on the word churching expressed in the comments of Internet users (trying to find synonyms, attitude towards the trend of using anglicisms).
