Summary/Abstract: The position defined in the essay by arguments build on (inter-)linguistic and everyday observation evidence is that the situation of participating in a dialogue - i.e. a communicative situation- shapes the identity of the participants, including their knowledge, values, judgement, and activities. This is what i call "dialogical Self" or "liquid Self" that equals to a person which is open to the needs and deeds of the (immediate) community and is aware of the fact that their identity is interdepended, with the identities of the others via dialogue. At the same time, even artificially designed forms of dialogue like the Nelsonian Socratic Dialogue are situated in the world and this leads to a possibility of changing the concept of dialogical Self to ecological Self.
