Summary/Abstract: Both family and school face the same question of how to prepare the young generation for family life. The old Lithuanian traditions of preparing children and youth for marriage and adult life valuing dignity, purity and marriage have withered but nothing has been invented to replace them. Many organizations try to fill in the void. Most of the time guided by commercial calculations or other consumer intentions they find their way to schools. The world education practice prefers sexual education programs, which are guided by reproduction ideology but are unfavourable to nurture dignity and the value of marriage in the young generation. The article analyses the features of the universally spread reproduction ideology and its influence in the formation of the worldview. The article analyses the documents and gives examples from Lithuanian experience of sexual education. It also exhibits the differences between sexual education and sexual nurturing as well as shows the links between sexual education ideology and reproduction worldview. The article surveys the aspects of the influence of sexual education to teenage sexual behaviour and gives evidence about the negative outcomes of early teenage sexual life. The authors of the article, after a thorough analysis of the situation, give recommendations about preparing teenagers for family life.
