Summary/Abstract: On September 11, 1697. Eugene of Savoy inflicted near Senta a key defeat on the Ottoman army led by Sultan Mustafa II. The news of the victory spread throughout Europe and greatly contributed to the end of the war that lasted 14 years (the Peace of Karlovac was concluded in February 1699). The very fact that three more battles took place near Senta during the war for the re-liberation of these territories is not particularly known even among those who dealt in detail with the history of the Kingdom of Hungary. In my work I deal with the above mentioned events together with the hardly known three battles and in connection with the siege and capture of Szeged. For that reason I use sources from that time, as well as subsequent processing of events.
