In Memoriam: Monique Castillo (1948-2019)

Summary/Abstract: Monique Castillo, a representative figure of French philosophy and honorary member of the editorial board of The Annals of the University of Bucharest – Philosophy Series, left us last September, after a discrete and dignified fight with a relentless disease. At her disappearance, Roger Pol-Droit reminded us that Monique Castillo, born in 1948, was not only “an outstanding professor and a brilliant speaker” but also that she, being neither “a media icon” nor an “isolated researcher in her library”, “embodied another, perhaps vanishing model of a well-versed spirit in theoretical analysis, one tirelessly open to the contemporary world, attentive to the acuity and diversity of its questions” (Le Monde, 30 September 2019).
