Cohesion policy of the European Union with reference to BiH

Summary/Abstract: Cohesion policy is an instrument for achieving the strategic goal of the European Union - territorial cohesion and harmonious and balanced development of the EU region. During the three decades of implementation, monitoring and evaluation, several modifications of cohesion policy have been made. The policy has been modernized and adapted to meet the strategic goals of the EU and the specific needs of the region. Cohesion policy has so far failed to achieve its goal and does not appear to be achieving it any time soon. Socio-economic differences between the regions are still very striking today and could be said to be insurmountable for the next few decades.However, the results of investments from cohesion policy exist, the regions are certainly more competitive and on the ground there is visible progress in the quality of life for citizens.
