The Role of The Islamic Sharia Theological School Graduates in the Field of Oriental Philology in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Summary/Abstract: The paper seeks to draw attention to the scientific and linguistic potentials of the Sharia Judicial School and the Higher Islamic Sharia Theological School graduates, which represented the spiritual and intellectual elite throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Having in mind the curricula and the fields they studied during their four-year study, but also the special attention paid to the study of the Arabic language at these institutions and the competencies they acquired in that field, a significant number of graduates of these Islamic higher education institutions were the backbone in the establishment and successful scientific and educational results of the Department of Oriental Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo and the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo as well as in terms of launching and scientific valorization of the journal Contributions to Oriental Philology of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo. This paper seeks to draw due attention to the graduates of these two schools and their key role in the establishment of these institutions in the context of their scientific and research work.
