INCREASING THE PERSON’S SECURITY AND SAFETY AND THE PROGRESS IN THE FIELD OF CULTURE AS PURPOSES OF THE RM – EU ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT

Summary/Abstract: The European integration of the Republic of Moldova (RM) implies an approximation of common cultural standards and values for the European Union (EU) and for the RM. This objective is pursued by the most important political document concluded by the Chisinau diplomacy with the EU - the Agreement of Association of the RM with the EU (Agreement), signedon June 27, 2014. The field of culture is mentioned in the Agreement, calling for close cooperation in line with such valuesas tolerance and equity, opening new perspectives for social development and modernization, ensuring an advanced levelof human security, personal freedom and individual safety. In the context of the implementation of the Agreement, the RM unilaterally undertakes to align its national policies, to allocate a large part of its state budget to achieve these objectives andto pursue a foreign policy in line with the objectives set out in the Agreement, to build in the RM a society with a high level of civilization and well-being.
