Summary/Abstract: Arthur John Arberry (1905–1969), the famous British Orientalist, in the introduction to his translation of Javid-nama talks about the worldwide importance of this work, while bringing opinions of writers and literary critics-Iqbalists who compare this work with the classic works of Persian poetry, which has belonged to the world of literature since long ago. Arberry also provides information about other translations and translators of this work into the languages of the West, talks about the reasons why Iqbal has written his magnum opus in Persian and also about its style and content. Particularly interesting is the opinion of this famous interpreter that he, as his ideal way to which the work is translated from the original to another language, chose the translator’s language as such, and not personal language of the translator.
