Summary/Abstract: The last decades have witnessed constant changes andreforms in education in many countries. The paradox ofthese changes is that they require further changes andtransformations and further reforms. Education systems donot correlate with the needs of humanity in the 21st century,nor with the emerging new world view. This articleaims to examine education from the global perspective ofthe world of digitization in which we live and to find ananswer to the question what is the purpose of educationin the 21st century. From the analyses of different pedagogicaltrends and philosophical assumptions underlyingthem, a conclusion will be drawn about the need for a philosophyopen to new challenges in today’s educational realityin order to achieve this goal. This article will addresskey issues of the VUCA world concerning education suchas digitization, educate to the unknown, the phenomenonof global teenagers and the development of robotics.
