Summary/Abstract: The article presents The European Consumer Centres’ Network – ECC-Net, an EU institution that operates in 27 member states, Norway and Iceland. Its main task is to advise and assist consumers free of charge in finding a solution if they have a problem with cross-border trader when they buy goods or services in another European country. The author’s purpose was to highlight the importance of such institution in Single Internal Market where consumers are less confident of their rights while having transactions across borders. The article presents legal act that brought ECC-Net into life and the results of its 5-years work from 2005 to 2009 based on official report handled by European Commissioner for Health and Consumers. On this basis the author shows the need of consumer help and the importance of the network. Moreover, the text explains mechanism of operation of the network: between consumer and company with the assist of consumer centers of the country of the consumer and entrepreneur.
