Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the problem of thinking typology in speech practice in relation to the problem of correlation of such categories as language – consciousness – reality. The problematicity is aggravated with the necessity of taking into consideration not only the main methodological approaches of philosophy; rather, a critical approach to the traditional dichotomies of subject and object, form and meaning, idiolect and sociolect, communication and self-communication, etc. should be taken into account. Alongside with the analysis of the relation between language and speech, the article focuses on the determination of speech practice by thinking, i.e. rational-perceptual and image-sensual part of thinking in basic functional styles of language. The suggested emphasis of thinking typology and speech generation is directed at the inevitability of differentiating the functional-pragmatic aspects of communication and self-communication. Moreover, it is pointed at the necessity of investigating the differences and mutual determination of typological characteristics of thinking and language categories.
