CLOUDS AND PRECIPICES IN RUSSIAN CULTURE (ON LOCI OF CULTURE AS REALIZATION OF SPATIAL COORDINATES OF THE CONSCIOUSNESS)

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the locus of culture, which is quite a new concept in the practice of cultural studies and which can be characterized as regularly reproduced in the discourse of a certain culture of a spatial object and which is the place of action or insight. It is attempted to conclude that in a crisis situation of a historical period of Russian culture two loci are realized in Russian texts. They are precipices and clouds. Their realization is related to peculiarities of the national character, which correlates with the spatial objects. The expediency of introducing the concept locus of culture is motivated by the idea that the orientation of the loci according to the coordinates gives us a possibility to specify the question of the national outlook orientation in the space and to materialize the Russian eschatological idea in apparent images.
