Summary/Abstract: Effingham Grant, through his marriage to Zoe Racoviță, entered the ranks of the high society of Bucharest and was the one who founded the first English aristocratic family in the Wallachian principality, closely related - by alliance - with the famous boyars from Golești. The last child of the spouses Zoe and Effingham Grant, Nicolae, was born on April 21 / May 9, 1868, in the Belvedere mansion in Bucharest, which belonged to his maternal great-grandfather, the great chancellor Constantin (Dinicu) Golescu. Throughout his entire artistic career, the painter N. Grant has participated in more than 40 individual and collective exhibitions and has painted more than 1000 paintings (drawings, watercolors, gouaches, tempera and oils).
