Summary/Abstract: Until the first quarter of 2020, tourism was one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. However, given that it is one of the most disaster-affected sectors, it is not surprising that it was seriously affected by the global health crisis in early 2020. Natural disasters, health, political, technological and economic crises, military conflicts and terrorism threaten any tourist site, destination or company. In order to maintain the healthy growth of tourism, it is essential that tourist destinations and sites are safer and more secure, better prepared for potential disasters. Crisis management in tourism includes the development of measures, plans and manuals for timely response to adverse events in an adequate manner to minimize the negative impact on customers and the industry. A well-prepared destination and tourism business would also quickly plan and take the necessary action for recovery from a disaster.
