Origin of the Septuagint

Summary/Abstract: The Septuagint is a Greek translation of the Bible that was created at the time of Ptolemy II Philadelph, by the request of the Jews from Alexandria. The main reason for creation was that the Jews of Egypt forgot Aramaic language, which is why they could not understand the words of the law which read in the synagogues in Aramaic. The source that speaks of the Septuagint is Aristeаs letter, literary fiction, whose goal was to accept the Greek translation of an official and prove that the true original. The majority of scholars doubt the authenticity of the letter and agree that the Pentateuch was created first, and then other books.
