Summary/Abstract: The following article investigates the presence of Freudian elements of psychoanalysis in three plays by Jorge Díaz: Fanfarria para marionetas (2001), Padre nuestro que estás en la cama (2002) and Pasión de las marionetas (2003). Each of the drama outlines the motif of Oedipus complex from a slightly diff erent perspective. The analysis of time and action category in Padre nuestro que estás en la cama shows an inner and subjective character of this conflict (subjective interiorisation). Although there is no direct reference to Freudian terminology in Pasión de las marionetas, the discourse analysis as well as the actanial model advocated by Anne Ubersfeld unfolds Oedipal nature of one of the male characters. Finally, Fanfarria para marionetas deprives Oedipus complex of its individual character, giving it a political dimension. Additionally, implementing the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud in the three aforementioned plays results in highlighting the elements of grotesque responsible for deformation and degradation of the characters being reduced to the role of marionette.
