BEKTASHI ORDER AND ITS MUSICAL FEATURES IN KOSOVO

Summary/Abstract: The development process of Bektashi order (tariqat) is being increasingly researched day by day. Beginning in the nineteenth century, this subject has attracted the attention, in particular, of Western scholars. The research of Bektashi life, worldviews and behaviors in different environments is of great importance in determining further activity both religiously and nationally. This paper, in addition to providing some information on the development, worldviews, and rituals of Bektashism, also analyzes the musical structure of the “nefeses” of this order, in which are included the rituals and customs associated with Sufi music (in this order) in such a specific space as is Kosovo.
